Panda Dore, Old Port Montreal

Panda Dore has become one of my favorite spots in Chinatown; from their pan-fired buns to the crispy pork moon cakes, I simply cannot get enough. Since I found this cozy family-owned restaurant, I have visited it twice in less than a week. The entire staff is super friendly and inviting. Panda Dore-Tángrénjiē zuì hǎo de jiān zhūròu bāo

Mid-Autumn Festival: moon cakes, red bean (3) Pork (3) 上海小熊生煎

Pan Fried Buns (4), $7.99

Each time I visit Panda Dore, I order their handmade pan-fried pork buns. I had the pleasure of speaking to the owner and was informed that they hand-selected the pork shoulder for each batch of buns. The meat is then ground twice to ensure a beautifully smooth texture and carefully cooked. Once that step is completed, their secret family spices are added along with the finishing touches.

Crispy pork moon cake (4) $14.99

Traditionally made with pork, these crispy moon cakes are one of my favorite items on the menu. Each time I visit, I order one, as they are very filling. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. So far, I have not had a mooncake this good from any restaurant in Montreal’s Chinatown. When you visit, be sure to order one.

Gluten Salad (1) $9.99

Panda Dore offers this amazing gluten salad, and after trying it, I was shocked at how amazing it was. The ingredients for this salad are gluten cubes, mushrooms, daylilies, peanuts, and bamboo shoots. Panda Dore serves it up fresh daily.
