Café Rì Yue, Downtown Montreal
Since its opening in the fall of 2023, Café Rì Yuè has been a huge hit. It has become well known for its infamous panna cotta "jiggly cat" desserts, tasty lattes, and a wide assortment of delicious macaroons. This cafe has become "the place" for a great hangout with friends or to enjoy a perfect latte and the view.
Café Rì Yuè is located in the heart of downtown Montreal at 333 Av. du Président-Kennedy, Montréal, and is steps away from Metro Place des Arts. This location is one of the best-known spots in the city, as it is minutes away from the popular Place des Arts. They are home to many events that include theatre, musicals, comedies, and more.
This cafe has a high rating of 4.6 on Google and some of the best reviews in the city. Take a look at my visit below, leave a comment, and tell me your favorite dessert at Café Rì Yuè.
Seating and Decor
When I arrived, I was amazed by the decor and beauty of Café Rì Yuè. Even though I have seen them on Instagram many times, the in-person experience is much different. The cafe is decorated with flowers, comfortable furniture, and amazing art. The one thing that stood out right away was the seating. It is very limited and best for small groups of around 2–4 people.
They also sell various teas, coffees, merchandise, and accessories that are on full display. These items can be purchased in-store or online.
What I ordered
I was so excited to place my order that I did not know which hot drink to choose. The staff suggested the matcha latte with osmanthus flowers, to add to that. I also ordered the blueberry cheesecake.
The blueberry cheesecake stood out from the rest; the color was nice and vibrant; the blueberry topping was whipped; and the cheesecake slice was dressed with a small piece of gold leaf.
My order took less than 5 minutes to arrive, and when I got it, I fell in love! The cheesecake was served on a beautiful vintage plate with a gold spoon. The matcha latté was served in a generous cup and was nicely decorated with osmanthus flowers.
I tried the matcha latte first; it was nice, smooth, and not too sweet. The addition of the flowers was different, but it blended well with the taste of the matcha and enhanced its flavor.
The Best Blueberry Cheesecake
I have no words to describe how smooth and tasty the blueberry cheesecake was. The topping and cheesecake filling were soft and fluffy; the crust was nice and balanced; and overall, it had the perfect sweetness. I have had my fair share of cheesecakes, and none compare to this one. This is worth more than the price and is at the top of my list.
I loved Café Rì Yuè so much that I had to visit again, and this time I ordered the famous Panna Cotta dessert, a blueberry macaroon, and a latte.
Let's start with the panna cotta, better known as the famous Jiggly Cat dessert. They are only available after 1:30 p.m. and on a first-come, first-served basis. This sweet treat was a 10/10; the only issue is that I wish I had more. It was so smooth and refreshing, not sweet at all, and worth every dollar. Currently, they sell for $5.99, but due to their popularity, I would not be surprised if the price goes up soon.
To end my visit, I ordered a regular latté for $4.25 with a blueberry macaroon for $4. They have about a dozen different flavors to choose from, and all look delicious. I enjoyed the latte and the macaroon very much. Worth the second trip.
Final Review
Café Rì Yuè is by far one of the best cafes that I have visited in a long time. The space is very inviting, and the staff is very friendly. The pricing is reasonable and, in my opinion, should be a tad bit higher given the service and quality of the food.
Everything that I ordered over the past 2 days was incredibly fresh and tasty. I recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a cozy space, amazing drinks, and delicious cakes.
