Le Uptown, Congolese Restaurant Old Port Montreal

If you're looking for a wonderful Congolese restaurant, you have to check out Le Uptown. I recently visited their location in Old Port Montreal at 56 Notre-Dame St W, Montreal, Quebec, and had a blast.

Le Uptown serves delicious African food made from scratch and offers entertainment that is engaging and fun. This location is beautifully decorated, with splashes of African colours and unique fixtures. The menu is 100% Congolese, so get ready for a burst of flavour.

Le Uptown, Congolese Restaurant Montreal

Delicious Congolese food, with one-of-a-kind entertainment

Le Uptown offers all you can eat for $65 per person, not including drinks. The menu offers delicious meats, rice, plantain, and homemade donuts for dessert. The night started off with delicious yellow rice and plantains, followed up with their signature chicken and mutton. Both meats were delicious, a little spicy but palatable. The mutton and chicken that were cooked to perfection and seasoned well.

The highlight of dinner for me was the delicious fufu and homemade donuts. The fufu came with a delicious okra sauce that was perfect for dipping.

One of my favourite desserts has always been mandazi (African donuts). And Le Uptown did not disappoint. The taste and softness were great, 10/10. Everyone loved these bite-sized donut treats, and I highly recommend them.

Le Uptown Entertainment

Le Uptown is unforgettable; besides the delicious food, there was an entertainment portion that consisted of drumming. The performer was very engaging and friendly. This part of the evening lasted around 30 minutes, and it was honestly a fun time learning and playing authentic Congo beats.

Final Review

. I recommend visiting Le Uptown in a group and getting the all-you-can-eat option for $65. The restaurant can comfortably seat small and large groups. The food is very delicious, and the only item I did not appreciate was the french fries.

They were very out of place and, in my opinion, should not have been on the menu. There were two kinds of chicken, and both were delicious. Always check with the waiter, as the spice can be very surprising.

The staff was friendly and kept bringing out dishes to fill our plates. One thing that was very apparent was the cleanliness. I appreciated the freshness of each dish, especially the mutton. Lastly, the price is decent, a little high for an all-you-can-eat restaurant, but seeing that it is in the Old Port, a high price is expected.

The entertainment portion really put this restaurant in my top 20. I have visited quite a few restaurants in Montreal, and only a handful offer in-house entertainment this good. Leave a comment on your experience at Le Uptown.
