Oishi Bar à Matcha Montreal
If you love matcha, then you have to visit Oishi Matcha Bar. This little gem serves up the best traditional Japanese teas, desserts, mochi, and ice cream. Oishi is located at 1289 Rue Beaubien E. and is only a seven-minute walk from metro Beaubien in Montreal's Mille End.
Visiting Oishi Matcha Bar was truly a wonderful experience. I learned a lot about their traditional teas and teapots. They sell the most amazing hand-made teapots, Gaiwan tea sets, and imported Japanese matcha. Not only is the matcha impressive and rich in flavor, but they also have over 500 types of loose-leaf teas and showcase a large Pureh collection. Check out my full visit below, leave a comment, and tell me what your favorite dessert or drink is from Oishi Mascha Bar.
The history of tea in Japan began as early as the 8th century when the first known references were made in Japanese records. Tea became a drink of the religious classes in Japan when Japanese priests and envoys sent to China to learn about its culture brought tea to Japan.
The Buddhist monks Kūkai and Saichō may have been the first to bring tea seeds to Japan. The first form of tea brought from China was probably brick tea. Tea became a drink of the royal class when Emperor Saga encouraged the growth of tea plants. Seeds were imported from China, and cultivation in Japan began.
The decor at Oishi Matcha Bar is simply gorgeous. Over 100 teapots and sets are on display. The walls are also decorated with various teas and ceremonial matcha sets. The teas at Oishi are sold in different categories, such as the tea family, origin, specialties, and aroma.

There are two menus available at Oishi Marcha Bar: one for all drinks, parfaits, and desserts, and the other for traditional teas. Some of the items found on the main menu are Wagashi Nerikiri, Osihi Partait, and soft matcha ice cream.
What I ordered
1. Flotteur A La Crème Glacee Au Matcha
2. Parfait Oishi
3. Gaufres Taiyaki (Matcha & Azuki)
During my visit, I ordered three items off their menu, and all were equally amazing. The first item was the matcha float with soft ice cream. This item was delicious. I enjoyed the combination of the oat milk, soft ice cream, and matcha. This dessert is perfect for a nice summer day. The soft ice cream was tasty, and the matcha was flavorful and not bitter. When blended, the ingredients create the perfect mix.
The next thing that I ordered was the Oishi parfait, and to be honest, this was my favorite item. I enjoyed the soft ice cream, the tiny mochis, and the rich taste of matcha. I will order this dessert again.
The last item that I ordered was the Taiyaki waffle, which comes in three different flavors. The flavors are Matcha & Azuki (red beans), Hojicha & White Chocolate, and Earl Grey & White Chocolate. I chose the matcha and azuki filling, which was delicious. This waffle came straight out of the oven. It was nice and crispy on the outside and warm on the inside.
I loved my visit to the Oishi Matcha Bar. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed by friendly staff who explained the menu and were very helpful. Oishi has a traditional yet modern look. I loved the decor, handmade teapots, and overall experience.
I enjoyed the food; the matcha was top-notch, and each item I ordered was very delicious. I can tell that a lot of love and care goes into the food and items on the menu, as that is reflected in the taste and smell. Oishi is the perfect place to catch up with friends, have a romantic date, and enjoy a perfect matcha latte.
If you enjoy tea ceremonies, Oishi offers many workshops that can be viewed and booked online. The website also features various items that can be purchased for pickup.
